Desiree Shankle, LPC
Desiree thrives to create an authentic and accepting therapeutic relationship with each client. She believes life is a process, and at times people need a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings. Desiree creates an individualized treatment plan to meet clients where they are and empower them while going through the steps of therapy. Her goal is to address trauma and life stressors while encouraging clients to achieve their personal goals.
Desiree graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in psychology and a minor in sociology. After being a teacher for several years, Desiree earned her Master of Arts in Psychology, from Houston Baptist University, to become a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). Her clinical experience includes anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, behavior management, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and parent coaching.
Desiree uses various theoretical techniques including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Person-Centered therapy to address the needs of the client. She has experience doing individual, family, and group therapy.
