Welcome! Seeking counseling can be one of the scariest and bravest choices you will make on your journey to overall wellness. My goal is to provide a safe environment and relationship in which to discuss topics that are often uncomfortable to discuss within the context of other relationships. I often refer to counseling as a mirror. In our work together, I will reflect back to you the values and strengths you show me, so you can use those to make the next right choice for you.
I earned my Master of Arts degree in counseling from Sam Houston State University, where I focused my studies on play therapy and sand tray techniques. After a long stint as a stay-at-home mom to 4 lively boys, I then pursued a Master of Education degree from Lamar University in clinical mental health counseling. My clinical experience includes relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, Post-partum depression and/or anxiety, grief, self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, executive functioning skills (ADHD), and parent coaching.
Counseling is individually tailored to each client’s needs, so I use a variety of therapeutic techniques including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to assist clients on their journeys to wellness.
