About Yanira Uresti LPC

Hello and welcome to Prosperity Counseling Services! My name is Yanira Uresti and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of the healing process. My goal is to build a warm, non-judgmental environment to create safety during the therapeutic process. As we work together you will discover self-awareness, areas of growth needed in communication, and ways to bring enthusiasm into your life.

I was raised in a family that did not promote the discussion of feelings. Therefore, I believed that emotional suppression was how people handled many situations. Living with this state of mind prevented me from understanding all of my emotions and feelings, thus leaving me frustrated in my relationships.

I became a therapist because I want people to feel empowered, have a voice, and understand why they react the way they do in certain situations. I want to teach people how to listen to their inner needs and begin to work towards a fulfilling life.

I have worked closely with young professionals, adults of all ages, and couples suffering from adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, and those experiencing loss or relationship issues. I treat my clients with respect while providing them with a safe, healthy, and honest counselor/client relationship to help facilitate growth. I aim to develop a collaborative relationship where each client feels empowered to act as an expert in developing effective coping skills and managing communication skills and relationships.

The therapeutic process looks different for each of us; therefore, I prioritize finding an individualized and holistic approach for each client. I use various techniques such as Adlerian, Gestalt, Existential, and Narrative, to name a few. I look forward to working with you and beginning the journey to a healthier version of yourself.

I graduated from the University of Houston-Victoria with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s in Counseling. I hold a license in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor #87639.
