About Kelsey Schad LPC

Hi there!

One of my favorite things to discuss in therapy, taken from my own therapeutic experience, is being okay with “C minus” work and allowing our bare minimum to be enough. Life has a way of demanding urgency, and we have a way of expecting perfection from ourselves. To unravel the intricacies of our life and our being takes time and that time requires compassion and patience towards self. When working with me you’ll frequently hear me remind you to be curious, not critical.

My passion is rooted in trauma work and how attachment styles are impacted. I find significant value in understanding how we learn to love and how we integrate ourselves into various relationships by exploring childhood unmet needs, lack of praise, emotional neglect, and high achievement expectations. This is why I absolutely love the quote from John Bowlby “We’re only as needy as our unmet needs.” In therapy, I utilize a variety of approaches to include Person-Centered, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

As a therapist, I value developing a deep relationship with my clients where I am seen less as the expert and more as a companion. I genuinely want to be someone who walks beside you, challenges you, encourages you, and tells you about my Basset Hound, Franklin.

I am a counselor who has faced a variety of struggles and I relate to any feelings of uncertainty, hesitation, and the feeling of being lost. I am here for you through this process that is often trivial, difficult, and beautiful.

I have a Masters degree in both Psychology and Counseling from Houston Baptist University (HBU). I spent time writing a thesis on ‘Media Influence and Symptoms Associated with Eating Disorders.' Lastly, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas (#80597).

I look forward to working together 🙂
