About Kelsey Schad LPC

Welcome! I'm Kelsey Schad LPC. It takes a brave individual to seek out counseling support and I commend you for taking this step. There is something in your life that has initiated this search and I want to help you throughout your journey. Here is a little about me and how I plan to support you.

I have a master’s degree in psychology as well as counseling from Houston Baptist University (HBU) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. Since the beginning of my bachelor’s education, I have been refining my skill in counseling others. I dedicated some of my education to completing a thesis on ‘Media Influence and Symptoms Associated with Eating Disorders,’ which led me to practice in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings that focused on mental health and addiction related disorders. This experience taught me humility and how to better meet clients where they are at. In addition, I gained experience assisting those who lacked self-esteem to grow confident with identity development and interpersonal skill training. I’ve worked with individuals who have faced significant trauma in their lives, recovering from PTSD, and managing suicidal thoughts or self-harming behaviors. Lastly, I am knowledgeable, both personally and professionally, in the debilitating, daily struggle with anxiety.

My therapeutic style involves meeting the client where they are at. I want to assist you on your journey through insight and assist you in the development of strategies and tools to make positive changes. I utilize a variety of theoretical modalities to help us get to your goals in an efficient, positive, comfortable manner. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). My passion is rooted in trauma work and how attachment styles are impacted. I find significant value in understanding how we learn to love and how we integrate ourselves into relationships by exploring childhood unmet needs, lack of praise, emotional neglect, and high achievement expectations.

I will be here to guide you, encourage you, and challenge you. I am a counselor who has faced a variety of struggles and I relate to any feelings of uncertainty, hesitation, and the feeling of being lost. I am here for you through this process that is often trivial, difficult and beautiful.
